The
Holy Bible book of
Genesis
Chapter Four
The first instance of Adam's wife Eve conceiving of him, resulted in twin boys, the first of which was Cain, and she said, "I have gotten a man from the LORD.", ,
and the second of which, was his brother Abel, whom, as an adult, became a keeper of sheep, and Cain became a gardener who tilled the earth, ,
and eventually, of the fruit of his gardening toils, Cain brought an offering unto the LORD, ,
and also, Abel brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof, and The LORD God had respect unto Abel and to his offering, but, ,
unto Cain and to his offering, The LORD God did not have respect, and as Cain's countenance fell, he became very wroth, ,
and The LORD God said to Cain, "Why are you wroth, and why is your countenance fallen?
If you do well, you shall be accepted but, if you do not well, it is because sin is at the door, , and unto you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him.", ,
and Cain consulted with Abel his brother, and then when they were in the field, Cain became so angry with his brother Abel, that he killed him.
and The LORD God said to Cain, "Where is Abel, thy brother?", , and Cain replied, "I don't know; am I my brother’s keeper?", ,
and The LORD God said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground, ,
and now you are cursed from the earth that has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hands, and thus, ,
henceforth, when you have cultivated and planted, the earth shall not yield its total strength to you; a fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.", ,
and Cain replied to The LORD God, "My punishment is greater than I can bear;
behold, this day You have driven me out from the face of the earth, and also from Your face I shall be hid, in addition to being a fugitive and a vagabond wherever I dwell on the earth, and resultantly, everyone that becomes acquainted with me, shall attempt to kill me.", ,
and The LORD God said to Cain, "Therefore, I shall multiply seven times, my vengeance on whomsoever kills Cain.", , and also, The LORD God set a mark upon Cain, to discourage all who became acquainted with him, from attempting to kill him, ,
and Cain went out from The Presence of The LORD God , and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden, ,
and the first time Cain's wife conceived of him, resulted in the birth of Enoch, and Enoch built a city and called the name of the city Enoch, after his son whom he had named Enoch, ,
and unto Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begat Mehujael, and Mehujael begat Methusael, and Methusael begat Lamech, ,
and Lamech took unto himself two wives, the name of one being Adah and the name of the other, Zillah, ,
and Adah bare Jabal, the father of such as dwell in tents, and have cattle, ,
and his brother’s name was Jubal, he having been the father of all such as handle the harp and the organ, ,
and Zillah gave birth to Tubalcain, an instructor of every kind of work with brass and iron, and the sister of Tubalcain, was Naamah, ,
and Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, "Hear my voice you wives of Lamech and hearken unto my words, because I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt, and thus, ,
if Cain shall be avenged seven times, surely Lamech shall be avenged seventy-seven times, ,
and again, Eve bare Adam a son, and called his name Seth, "Because", said she, "The LORD God has given me a replacement for Abel, whom Cain killed.", ,
and eventually, to Seth also was born a son and Seth called his name Enos, after which time, men began to call upon the name of The LORD.
